🚨Hollismen suffer heavy defeat🚨
Counties 4 Yorkshire
Rotherham Phoenix 73 Hornsea 0
The Hollismen fell victim to a rampant Phoenix performance as they suffered a 73-0 Counties 4 Yorkshire defeat in Rotherham.
Dave Trueman’s side crossed for 11 tries, 9 of which were converted, however, Hornsea showed spirit throughout the game with the Rotherham team manager stating the Hollismen never lied down.
Captain Ed Webster, who was awarded man of the match for his courageous display, knew his side were going to be up against it. Not only were the team his men travelled to undefeated after winning their opening four fixtures, but Hornsea were taking a much changed side from that of the one that defeated Hessle the week before. In fact, Six players were missing from last week, either through injury or work commitments, and if you add that to the list of players already unavailable due to holidays, long term injuries and again work commitments it left a very threadbare squad to travel.
Nonetheless, in the true spirit of grassroots rugby, Hornsea did make the 150 mile round trip, when possibly it would have been easier to postpone or give the fixture to their hosts. But by doing so, they ensured that 30 odd lads had an afternoon of playing Gods game, one side had a try packed afternoon, the other played their part, took a beating but were credit to their club and the game.
